Specific Goals & Objectives

1^st Nine Weeks:

Warm-up exercises consist of the following (some will not be used every day):

• Breathing Gym-2.1
• Superior of Excellence-2.3
• 101 Rhythmic Patterns-2.3
• Lip Benders-2.1
• Bach Chorales-2.5
• Major Scales & Chromatic-2.3

The band continues to sight read music in order to improve reading skills-5.1

Winter Concert: March 4, 2010

The students should be working on the following music!

Wind Ensemble:

• Awakening Hills
• The Ascension
• 2^nd Suite in F (movements 1 & 2)

Concert Band:

• Fantasy on a Japanese Folksong
• Toccata for Band
• Parade of the Tall Ships
• Return of the Dawn Treader

Indoor Guard & Percussion will be performing in the main gym

Small ensembles are presently working on music to perform as well

ETSBOA Concert Festival: April 8 or 9

The students should be working on the following music!

Wind Ensemble:

• Awakening Hills
• The Ascension

Concert Band:

• Fantasy on a Japanese Folksong
• Toccata for Band

Scale tests have been given & include all 12 major scales & chromatic. If a student has not passed the scale, he/she will have a chance to play it again during the month of February.

A playing test has been given over the following music:

Wind Ensemble “The Ascension”

Concert Band “Toccata for Band”.

If a student has not passed the playing test, he/she will have a chance to play it again during the month of February.

All playing tests are 40% of the nine weeks grade!

Practice charts are to be turned in each week & are 20% of the nine weeks grade!
