Dear Parent:
Welcome to
the 2011-2012 school year with the
to have your child enrolled in our program and
hope that the band experience will be rewarding,
enjoyable, and educational.
The Heritage Band is a performance oriented
organization. Each student plays an
important
roll in every rehearsal and performance. Unlike athletic teams, we have no
"second string" or
substitutes.
Each individual is a "starter" and has no replacement. In order for the band to be
successful it is extremely important for every
member to attend each rehearsal and performance.
The band will rehearse after school on Tuesday
and Thursday until 6:00 p.m. throughout
our "competition season" which lasts
through part of October.
Students are to be at home football games at
6:30. The time of departure for away
games will
depend on the distance we have to travel. Students
will need to provide their own transportation
to and from
"away" games played in Blount Co.
Bus
transportation from Heritage will be provided
for out of county games. All
students are required to ride the bus to and from the games.
If
they have other transportation after the game, parents must provide both
verbal and
written consent to the band director. STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO RIDE WITH
OTHER STUDENTS TO & FROM EVENTS!!!

All
of the rehearsals & performances listed above are part of the
Instrumental
Music curriculum and have been approved by the
Board
of Education. Participation is required
of all band members.
Band uniforms have been issued to each
student. They are kept in the band
storage area
until they are needed for performance. Students are not allowed to take them home
except
for special purposes such as pictures, etc. A garment bag is provided for uniform storage
and travel protection.
There is an annual band fee of $40.00. This fee is non-refundable and covers several
purposes.
It pays for cleaning & repair of uniforms, a $5000 accident policy
which covers
each band member during band events, and an
instrument repair/replacement fund for
future needs.
This fee should be paid during the first week of school.
The Heritage High Band has an active booster
club which provides both moral and financial
support to the students. In addition to various fund raising projects
throughout the year, they
are in charge of all concessions at home
football games. One of our most successful
projects
is the VOLUNTEER
CLASSIC MARCHING
BAND FESTIVAL which is held annually on the second
Saturday in October. Help is needed from all band parents. You will be contacted at a later date
for working in the Classic. Your participation in the band booster club
is greatly needed and
appreciated.
It is your child, as well as the band, who will benefit from your
support.
Once again, welcome to the Heritage High School
Band organization. If you have any
questions,
feel free to call us at 984-8110 ext
56-2125. With your support we look
forward to having a
great year!
Sincerely,
John Gallagher
